The First Song
Symphonia could not have looked more horrid than what it is now. Ruined by the continuous falling rain. She sighed and let her head lean on the cool glass window. Absorbed in her thoughts, she barely noticed the cup of coffee she had ordered earlier.
The rain brought back painful memories. Memories which she prefers to be thrown away. As she came back to reality, she remembered what she was supposed to do. She drank her coffee and went on her way.
Recently the town of Symphonia East had been raided by a gang going by the name, Veinsavantia. Ever since they came to the East, it rained non-stop. Rika suspects that their gang leader has something to do with the unusual weather. She could not just let the gang have their way with the town. Furthermore, she was looking for a gem that amplifies magic and it could just be in the hands of that gang leader. She could sense it, a feint presence given by the gem. But she had to be sure.
As she stared out the window, a flash of lightning revealed a masked man in the shadows. Her heart started to beat faster as her memories of her past flashed through her mind. She saw an image of a burning house but could not recall ever seeing it before. 'What was that? That house it seems familiar.' She ran out of the cafe, looking for the person who was outside the window. She stood where the man would have been and looked around for trails that the man would have left. She wondered who that person was and what has he got to do with her memories.
'Move!' Running towards her was a person in a dark robe.
Startled, Rika stood there looking at the person running towards her. She looked down and beneath her was a Magic Circle and directly above her was the masked man she saw earlier.
The masked man chanted the words 'Air I am, Fire I am, Water, Earth and Spirit I am'. As the Magic Circle grew brighter, the robed person casts a nullification spell to prevent the masked man from completing his chant. However, the masked man used an offensive spell to knock back the robed person before he got the chance to nullify the Magic Circle.
The masked man continued his chant. Rika felt feint and starts to lose consciousness due to the effects of being in the Magic Circle. As she grows weary, her necklace starts to glow. It was Replica. Bound to serve and protect its master, it reveals its true form and dispels the Magic Circle. The force generated by the blast knocked the robed person unconscious and startled the masked man. Rika was no longer aware of her surroundings. Her weapon morphed into a giant halo above her head and the auto defence system of her weapon took action. Rika fell to the ground with the halo hovering just above her.
Knowing the seriousness of the situation, the masked man teleported out of the scene to a safer place. As the robed person regains consciousness, he awoke to the sight of the surrounding area being destroyed by Replica. Without hesitation, he quickly casted a containment spell with hope of stopping Replica from going out of control. Replica put up a strong resistance against the spell. The robed person draws his weapon and force Replica into submission by hammering it into the ground. Unable to fight back, Replica slowly dies down and shrinks back to the necklace form.
The robed person carries Rika back into the cafe which is also a small inn. Upon entering, they received stares from the shaken customers. Probably afraid what would happen to them if they provoke the robed person. He placed Rika on a small bed in one of the rooms. As he is about to leave, Rika, still in a daze, grabbed his hand.
'Who...who are you?'
'Just a traveler my lady. No need to worry, you're safe now'
With that said, he silently left the room. Rika noticed that the robe he wore felt too smooth to be those of that a traveler would wear. She also noticed red linings on the robe and an emblem beneath the layers of cloth but the image was blurred in her state and she could have mistaken it for something else.
Somewhere close by, the masked man watched from afar.
'Her powers are greater than I have imagined. This would be a complication to the plan. Don't you agree my lord?' He turned to another masked man, dress elegantly in a robe with gold linings.
'It would be indeed. However, she might be of use to us in the future. With that kind of power, we will be able to proceed with our plans if we play our cards right.'
